Anxious relatives pleaded for help locating the former television advertising producer, who was last seen clinging to the floating debris.

His brother Nick Eleini, who lives in Sydney, stated on Facebook: “URGENT URGENT! If anyone has Angela’s address, he can PM me or call me.”

Confusion surrounded her fate later when Angela, who moved from London to Veitongo five years ago, posted a photo online and wrote: “This is sunset today after the volcano below up last night.

“We have been under tsunami warnings today.  Everything’s okay.”

The Foreign Office confirmed yesterday that it was helping a number of Britons following the massive undersea volcanic eruption.
