Who is Brooklyn Peakman ?.

A teenager who feared he had died twice stunned a hospital worker upon awakening from a coma to tell his mother: ‘I love you.’

19-year-old soccer enthusiast Brooklyn Peakman was left fighting for his life when he suffered a stroke after heart operation.

Doctors feared the worst and told his mother Kelly that there was nothing they could do and were considering disconnecting life support.

But a stroke specialist found there was still brain activity and asked for more tests.

Family friend Hayley Roberts said: ‘Brooklyn was responding to his mother’s voice which obviously indicated brain activity, and miraculously on Christmas Eve he managed to tell her mother that he loved her.

She “he left it to pieces saying it was the best Christmas present.”

Brooklyn, from Prestatyn, North Wales, was born with a heart defect and underwent major heart surgery twice in the first 36 hours of life.

After a checkup last year, she was told that she needed additional surgery to install a mechanical valve, but the 19-hour operation “did not go as planned.”

She had already been in the hospital for two months awaiting surgery, but the operation at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham was canceled five times due to a lack of available intensive care beds.

Hayley said: ‘Kelly has been warned that Brooklyn faces a very long road to recovery that includes at least 12 months in the hospital.

The operation has also left him in need of a heart transplant, and she cannot receive it until she is fit enough to have one.
