Who is Cameron Cheshire ?
A teenager who stabbed to death a former friend during a street knife fight after they got into fight after they got into a fight on social media has been jailed for life.
Cameron Cheshire, 18, fatally wounded his old school friend Jack Barry, 19, in the Hamstead area of Birmingham on 7 March.
The pair came to blows on the West Road after fighting online over ‘money or girls’, a Birmingham Crown Court judge heard.
Cheshire lifted her top to reveal
After meeting by chance, Cheshire lifted her to to reveal a blade and told Mr. Barry “I’ll punch you” before plunging the knife into his chest.
Emergency services attended, but Barry was pronounced dead at the scene, while Cheshire was also stabbed and required treatment.
Cheshire initially lied to the police,
claiming that Barry had inflicted his own wound on him and that he was simply defending himself with a knife that he found on the street.
“One family has lost a loved one at a young age and another young man will now spend many years behind bars.
“The evidence suggests that both men were armed with knives that night and it was Cheshire who delivered the fatal blow. Knowing that you have killed someone is a heavy burden on your conscience forever.
“No one should lose their life like this, and the case reinforces the very real dangers of being armed with a knife.
“A young person tragically died that night and it could have been two. When used in the heat of moment, knives can destroy lives. ”
Police said that no matter where you live in the West Midlands, knife crime is a problem that affects us all.
He said they are playing our role in fighting knife crime, from operational activity aimed at reducing the number of knives on our street to educational supplies.
