Who is Cody James Ackland ?
The family of Bobbi-Anne McLeod threw abuse at a guitarist in an indie rock band when he appeared in court today accused of murdering her.
Cody James Ackland, 24, who lives in central Plymouth with her mother and plays with the popular local band Rakuda, is accused of taking the 18-year-old away while she was waiting at a bus stop.
Ackland appeared in Plymouth Magistrates’ Court today, where he was charged with murdering the teenager between November 20 and 23. She disappeared last Saturday (November 20).
The musician entered the court covered with a blanket and spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth and address during the short hearing.

Judge Louise Ferris said to him: “Mr Ackland, you are being sent to the Plymouth Crown Court and you will appear there for a preliminary hearing and you will be detained until 29 November.”
Shouts were heard from the stands when the suspect – wearing a gray tracksuit and a blue face mask – was taken back to custody after a three-minute hearing.
Bobbi-Anne was reported missing on Saturday evening and was found dead on Tuesday close to the coastal path and car park above Bovisand beach.
Ackland was born in Germany, where his father, 53, is believed to have served in the British Army. His parents are separated but live close to each other in Plymouth.

Ackland’s four-man band is named after Bar Rakuda, a popular place in the city center that they visit regularly.
Ackland and his other bandmates – who were all close friends – are well known on the city’s indie music scene, playing gigs at a number of bars and clubs around Plymouth and the West Country and building a cult following.
He attended Estover Community College in Plymouth, but in recent years has focused on music in hopes of reaching the big time.
Pictures of Ackland on social media show how he loses pints between the songs and looks to revel in the image of a drunk rocker.
An Ackland employee told MailOnline: “He is a handsome boy and sees himself as a bit of a boy.
“It’s hard to believe Cody is involved in something like this.”
Josh Greenless, singer of Rakuda, told MailOnline: “The first thing I heard about this was when the police started searching Cody’s house. He’s a big part of our band and it’s all a bit shocking. ‘

Rakuda announced that it would be dissolved today, and wrote on Facebook: ‘The remaining members of Rakuda; Josh, Ross, Josh and Mike are all extremely shocked and in complete disbelief at the tragic event that has taken place in recent days.
‘Our thoughts and prayers go out to Bobbi-Anne McLeod’s family and friends who must be devastated by their loss.
“As a token of respect, we have decided not to proceed as a band and will dissolve with immediate effect. We will not make any further comments at this time.”
The band has released a number of songs on Spotify with titles such as: ‘I want to enter your soul; Atomic Woman; ‘ and “where should I go?” Most have only been heard a few hundred times.
In 2000, they produced their debut single, which was played on local BBC radio.
On its Spotify profile page, the band lists its influences as Kasabian and Oasis.

The 18-year-old’s family has been informed and is being supported by specialist officers, Devon and Cornwall police said.
The force said yesterday that there was “no known link” between Ms. McLeod and the suspect.
Deputy Police Chief Nikki Leaper said investigators were not looking for anyone else in connection with the murder.
Ms. McLeod left her home in Leigham around 6 p.m. and was last seen waiting at a bus stop near her home as she headed into town.
Hundreds of people gathered where she was last seen to hold a candlelight vigil in her memory.
Local residents have set up a flower bank dotted with candles in recent days.
Donna McLeod, the victim’s mother, was very distraught during the vigil, but she was able to thank the crowd for all the love and support her family has received over the past few days.
“Thank you for doing everything you can to try to find her and bring our baby home,” she said.
