Darcy Hollinson Wiki
Darcy Hollinson Bio
Who was Darcy Hollinson ?
A 17-year-old schoolgirl Darcy Hollinson who felt pressure from extra work, had body image issues and was struggling during lockdown took her own life by hanging herself, an inquest has found.
Darcy Hollinson, who lived with her parents and siblings in Tavistock, Devon, was struggling to connect with friendship groups and felt left out, the Exeter Coroner’s Court Inquiry was told today.
The coroner heard that “lockdown affected her quite badly due to the isolation” although she had a “lovely boyfriend” – who said she suffers from panic attacks, has trouble sleeping and also has bulimia.
Darcy, a sixth grade student at Plymouth High School for Girls, recently reconnected with a friend and they exchanged messages about relationships, mental health, suicide and the impact on her friends.
She saw a child psychiatrist on the day of her death and “planned for the future” and expressed no suicidal thoughts, the hearing was told.
Within 30 minutes of her last message to her friend, Darcy was found hanged in her bedroom one evening in April last year.
An autopsy confirmed death by hanging, and police said there were no suspicious circumstances.
Senior Devon Coroner Philil Spinney recorded a suicide conclusion.
He said Darcy self-harmed and suffered with her body image and low mood while battling a depressive illness.
Mr Spinney offered his condolences to her parents and said it was “very difficult to take”.
