Who is Jermaine Beckford ?

Jermaine Beckford has admitted that Lewis Bate has a great chance to impress after the youngster made his Leeds United debut on the trip to West Ham United this afternoon.

The 19-year-old moved to Elland Road from Chelsea in a deal believed to be around £ 1.5m in the summer and has been a regular with the U23 squad ever since.

Bate has made 14 appearances for the Whites in Premier League 2 and also scored his first goal for the club in a 5-3 loss to Salford City in the Papa John’s Trophy.

Marcelo Bielsa, who has been singled out to fast-track into the first-team squad after shining for Mark Jackson’s side, has decided to give Bate his FA Cup third-round debut against the Hammers.

Meslier remained the busier of the two French goalkeepers early in the second period, but it was Leeds who came closest to scoring the second goal when Daniel James pushed a shot from very close as the visitors applied pressure in the end.

The Welshman missed another great opportunity to equalize in the final stages, failing to readjust his feet in time as Jack Harrison’s low cross twisted his way into the six-yard box.

And moments after Meslier stepped forward for a corner in hopes of scoring a goal to force extra time, West Ham fought back and sealed the win, with Michail Antonio teeing off Bowen for his sixth goal of the campaign.
