Who is Nehemias Chipada ?

A tourist in the Philippines was attacked by a crocodile after mistaking it for a plastic model and getting into his pool to pose for selfies.

Nehemias Chipada saw what she thought was just a realistic model of one of the predators while visiting the Amaya View amusement park on her birthday in the city of Cagayan de Oro.

Nehemias Chipada, 68, was bitten by the crocodile while he was visiting an amusement park to celebrate his birthday with his family in Misamis Oriental province on November 10

The 68-year-old then posed for photos, holding his phone in one hand and the other hanging from his waist.

But with his family watching, the photoshoot took a wild turn as the 12-foot-long alligator lunged on his arm and dragged him into the water.

After the incident, Nehemiah, who survived the crocodile attack, and her family blamed the amusement park for not putting up signs warning them to stay away from the deadly reptile.

Nehemias’ daughter, Mercy Joy Chipada, said: “There were no signs warning us not to enter the compound. Because if there was, we would never have gone there. ”

The resort staff wrapped Nehemias hands and arms tightly in handkerchiefs to stop the bleeding, after which he was sent to the Northern Mindanao Medical Center for treatment.

Examinations found that he had suffered broken bones and eight wounds that required stitches to his left arm and thigh.

The resort staff tightly wrapped the handkerchiefs around Nehemiah’s arms and hands to hold them.
A three-inch crocodile fang had also lodged itself in her flesh from the force of her bite. Multiple surgeries were needed to repair her broken bones.

Viewer Rogelio Pamisa Antiga, who filmed the video, said: “I was looking at the beautiful scenery around the park when the incident occurred. I heard people yelling for help and saw the crocodile mistreating the old man. I thought I’d bite his arm off.

“I wanted to help him, but he was scared and didn’t know how to deal with a crocodile attack. ”

The amusement park agreed to bear the costs of Nehemiah’s treatment, but denied it was negligent in warning tourists about the dangerous animals.

Amaya View COO Candy Unabia said: “We deny the charge that we have been negligent.

“They said they thought the crocodile was also artificial, but in reality that area is restricted. There are constant signs and reminders from our tour guides.
