Tom Daley had the most support from her husband Dustin Lance Black on Sunday night when thery attended the BBCSports Personality of the Year Awards at MediaCityUK, Salford.

The 27-year-old diver is in the running for the esteemed award alongside such players as tennis ace Emma Raducanu, F1 Driver Lewis Hamilton, heavyweight champion Tyson Fury and Manchester City footballer Raheem Sterling.

A Tom in a suit and boots secured his status as one of the best athletes in the country after winning gold for the men’s synchronized 10-meter platform during the Tokyo Olympics.

Tom also showed a glimpse of his chest as he donned an open fir satin shirt, which drew attention to a subtle silver chain around his neck.

Meanwhile, screenwriter Dustin, who is 20 years older than Tom at 47, sported a graceful figure in a buttoned gray suit jacket and stopped to sweetly stare at her husband during the red carpet event.

Tom, the father of one, was also joined by his dive buddy Matty Lee, with whom he won the coveted gold medal in July.

23-year-old Matty recently appeared on I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here! and was fifth.

‘The public only sees a very serious athlete on the board, I have to be in the game . But I know there is a funny side to me, there is a funny side to everyone.

“And I thought going in there would show everyone exactly who I am, and I hope I did,” he said as he left.

Emma Raducanu (Tennis player) started the year as a virtual unknown and ends it as the odds-on favourite for the BBC award.

September 2021, she won the US Open, becoming the first British female winner of a grand slam tennis tournament since Virginia Wade won Wimbledon in 1977, but it was the manner of that victory which made her achievement all the more reimbursable .

Raducanu, 19, gave a first glimpse of her potential at Wimbledon, reaching the fourth round before being forced to withdraw from her match against Aja Tomljanovic with breathing difficulties.

But no one predicted the fairytale of New York which was about to unfold as she became the first qualifier ever to win a grand slam – and did so without even dropping a set.

She now finds herself one of the biggest names in British sport, which brings with it the pressure to build on that success at Flushing Meadows.
