Riccy Padilla-Hernandez, 28, and Yures Molina, 34, were charged with child endangerment after their children, ages one to nine, were found living in horrific conditions, investigators said. according to KPRC.

Arrested and charged

Padilla-Hernández’s children are two, three and seven years old, while Molina’s children are one, eight and nine years old. It’s unclear if the two suspects are friends or relatives, but they and the children lived on the same property.

The children were discovered Wednesday after a maintenance man found Padilla-Hernandez’s 2-year-old daughter, who said she was dirty and walking barefoot, near a pool on the premises with no parent near her.

The man called officers from the Houston Police Department and when they arrived they found the boy’s older brother, who showed them the apartment where they found the other four children alone without their parents.

Officers said they found Molina’s 1-year-old son in a crib so hungry he resorted to eating his own feces while his 9-year-old son was infested with lice and covered in filth. It is unclear how long the children stayed.

One of Padilla-Hernandez’s children at the property has special needs and is unable to care for himself, investigators said in a police report.

When police were at the property, Padilla-Hernandez returned and claimed that he had been “doing his taxes.” Molina, who is reportedly seven months pregnant, was not present at the scene.

Bail for both mothers was set at $15,000 and by Friday both had posted bail.

Padilla-Hernandez and Molina are expected to appear in court on Monday.

Their children are now in the custody of Child Protective Services.
